Weed Squares Laying Instructions
Tool required - a mallet and a rake for uneven sites.
1. Plant the tree as per normal recommended procedure.
2. Smooth the ground around the base of the plant, ensure the area is free of weeds.
3. Place the EcoCover Weed Square around the tree and fold the corners under to provide a double purchase: then secure using EcoPins in each folded corner and if required an extra EcoPin at the centre of the EcoCover Square near the stem.
4. Ensure that the "slit" is overlapped before securing the two edges, this will control weeds along the slit length.
5. Weed squares are pre slit to centres.
6. This EcoCover system biodegrades, replenishing the soil as it degrades. The EcoPins will also biodegrade.
EcoPins
EcoPins have sharp edges and barbs, always take extra care when handling.
1. When installing EcoPins apply firm downward pressure on the EcoPin to pierce the EcoSquare and enter soil.
2. In hard stony or rocky ground a mallet (preferably soft head) can be used but caution must be excersied to support the pin shaft.
3. Always ensure the mallet strikes the pin head squarely and not on the edges as the pin will break.
